Replenish empty iron stores in a targeted way: the iron infusion delivers iron directly into your blood – after a medical blood analysis and individually dosed.

Iron deficiency can have different causes and can show up through various symptoms:
- Tiredness, exhaustion and difficulty concentrating
- Reduced performance
- Hair loss and brittle nails
- Paleness, dizziness or shortness of breathCold hands and feet
These signs can also have other causes. A blood test gives certainty. Our doctors decide whether an iron infusion is suitable for you based on your blood values and medical history. Without proven iron deficiency, we do not recommend an infusion.
The iron infusion delivers iron directly via the vein and, in cases of proven iron deficiency, can specifically refill your iron stores.
Filled iron stores can support you during stress, high strain or after blood loss.
Iron is involved in metabolic processes that provide you with energy. The infusion can specifically compensate for a deficiency.
We only plan an iron infusion once current blood values are available and have been medically reviewed. You don’t have to decide in advance whether you bring values: your appointment stays in place either way.
1. You book your appointment online at your preferred location.
2. At your appointment, our doctors discuss your situation and your blood values.
3. There are two options. After your iron infusion, you’ll receive all the important information for the time afterwards.
Option 1 – You have current blood values: Bring them to your appointment. They may be at most 4 weeks old, must include all required parameters, and can also come from your family doctor or another practice. After a medical review, we start your iron infusion right away, provided there are no medical reasons against it.
Option 2 – You don’t have current blood values: No problem, we take your blood directly at your appointment and have it analyzed in our partner laboratory (additional €79). We usually receive the results within a week. Within 2 weeks after your appointment, we’ll get in touch to arrange your infusion appointment together. If you haven’t heard from us after 2 weeks, please contact our Customer Care.
For safe planning, we need the following blood values:
- Hemoglobin (Hb): the red blood pigment that transports oxygen
- Ferritin: shows how well your iron stores are filled
- Transferrin saturation (TSAT): shows how much iron is available in the blood for transport
- CRP: an inflammation marker that helps interpret the iron values
- MCV / MCH: describe the size and hemoglobin content of your red blood cells
Optionally, depending on your health situation, we also need:
- Creatinine / eGFR: provide information about your kidney function
- Liver values (AST, ALT)
The values may be at most 4 weeks old at the time of your appointment. Values from the last 14 days are ideal.
No. If you don’t have current values, we take your blood at your appointment and plan your infusion as soon as the results are available.
Yes. The values don’t have to come from Kalia Lab. What matters is that all required parameters are included and the values are no older than 4 weeks.
If we draw your blood, we usually receive the results from the partner laboratory within a week. Afterwards, we’ll get in touch to arrange the appointment for your infusion.
Whether an iron infusion is an option for you is decided by our doctors after reviewing your values and your individual health situation.
Whether you bring blood values or we determine them on site, please note the following:
- Come fasting: In the 8–12 hours before your appointment, please don’t consume any meals or caloric drinks. You may – and should – keep drinking water.
- Pause iron supplements: If you take iron supplements or iron-containing dietary supplements, please pause them if possible 24 hours before your appointment, unless there are medical reasons against it.
- Bring lab values: If you already have current blood values, please bring them to your appointment in full, digital copies are fine too.
- Take it easy: Take time for yourself for the rest of the day and avoid intense exercise.
- Drink enough: Drink enough water throughout the day.
- Watch the injection site: Slight redness, some tenderness or a small bruise can occur. If you notice swelling, increasing pain or discoloration of the skin, please contact us.
- Possible side effects: Mild tiredness, headache or aching limbs can occur temporarily and usually go away on their own.
Your results are usually available after about a week. As soon as they are ready, you can easily view them in the Kalia Lab app under “Documents”.
Of course. Before every treatment, we discuss your wishes and analyze your starting situation.
