Question 01
Botox is the brand name for a medication that contains the active ingredient botulinum toxin type A. In aesthetic medicine, it is used in very small, carefully measured doses to reduce expression lines—that is, wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movements such as frowning or smiling. Botulinum toxin is neither a filler nor a skin softener. It specifically blocks nerve signals to certain muscles, causing them to contract less strongly for a limited time.
Question 02
The active ingredient inhibits the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular synapse. Simply put: the muscle no longer receives a signal to contract and relaxes. This smooths out the skin above it. The effects begin to appear after 3–7 days and are fully visible after about 2 weeks. The effects typically last 3–6 months - depending on the treatment area, dosage, and individual metabolism.
Question 03
Most patients describe the injections as a slight prick - similar to the sting of an insect bite. The needles used are very fine, and the entire treatment takes only a few minutes. For particularly sensitive individuals, an anesthetic cream can be applied beforehand upon request. At Kalia Lab, we take the time to thoroughly prepare you.
Question 04
Every treatment begins with a detailed consultation. We analyze your facial expressions, discuss your goals, and work together to define a natural treatment plan. This is followed by precise injections - usually without anesthesia and completed within 10–15 minutes. This is followed by brief instructions on how to care for the area during the first few hours. After 2 weeks, we recommend a follow-up appointment to check the results and make any necessary minor adjustments - this is included as standard at Kalia Lab.
Question 05
The first changes often become apparent after just 48–72 hours. However, the full results are not visible until about 10–14 days have passed, once the active ingredient has taken full effect. Therefore, please do not judge the results too soon - a little patience goes a long way.
Question 06
Botox is generally suitable for healthy adults who wish to reduce expression lines such as frown lines, forehead wrinkles, or crow’s feet. It is also increasingly used as a preventive measure. Botox is not suitable during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, or for people with certain neuromuscular disorders. During your consultation, we will work with you to determine whether the treatment is appropriate and safe for you.
Question 07
When used correctly, Botox is considered very safe. Common, mostly temporary reactions include mild redness, minimal swelling, or occasionally a small bruise at the injection site. More serious side effects, such as a drooping eyelid, are very rare and almost always the result of an excessive dose or improper injection technique. At Kalia Lab, only licensed physicians work with certified products.
Question 08
This is one of the most common misconceptions. A “frozen” face is caused exclusively by overuse or improper treatment - not by Botox itself. At Kalia Lab, our goal is always a natural, fresh result: you’ll look more relaxed and rested - not like a different person. Your facial expressions and expressiveness remain intact.
Question 09
The cost of Botox treatment in Berlin varies depending on the treatment area, dosage, and clinic. At Kalia Lab, we offer transparent pricing: you’ll know exactly what to expect before your treatment. As a rough guide: a single treatment area typically starts at around €299, while combination packages may vary accordingly. A personal consultation is always free of charge at our clinic.
Question 10
Most patients have the treatment repeated every 3–6 months once the effects begin to wear off. Those who receive regular treatments often notice that the effects last longer over time - since the muscle is used less frequently. There is no medical necessity to repeat Botox treatments. The decision is always yours - we’ll give you honest advice without any pressure to buy.
